PRECIOUS MEMORIES

Precious Memories - Castings

Welcome to Precious Memories

Hi and welcome to my business – Precious Memories.

I wanted to share with you a bit about why I set up Precious Memories?

My name is Glenda and I set Precious Memories up in 2003, 20 years ago and have never looked back.

I had a background in recruitment, marketing and primary school teaching. In 2003, when I became pregnant with my first daughter I realised I wanted to continue working. I soon became frustrated as I was unable to find something that would accommodate me.

I had a brain and wanted to continue using it. In addition, I wanted to be part of those important milestones of my daughter growing up! Moreover, I did not want to feel guilty if she was ill and soon realised there was not much out there for me!

Just to add to things – the fact my husband also worked away from home meant I needed to be around. So Precious Memories was born!

Precious Memories - Casting and Training

fitting around family

In 2007, my second daughter was born and the business continued to grow. Doing this type of job does mean you can work around your children, in fact when I began mine were at home with me. With prices rising in everything, people are looking for ways to earn but also save. This industry is one where you can do both. As a mother myself, I can relate to the pressures families are facing in such challenging times.

The move to Dorset

In 2012 we were very lucky to re-locate to Dorset. I love to take advantage of the beaches, where I can walk my cockapoo Pickle, as well as spend time with my family. Since I began, I have always looked to improve my business. As with all things, technology is always impacting, so I continue to look at trends and adapt where I can. I also realised that my passion and experience needed to be shared. Offering training workshops has been an unbelievable journey.

Customers from All over the world

I have trained hundreds of students from all over the world. It is an honour when they take the time to come to my studio in Dorset. This business has also enabled me to meet some amazing clients.

20 YEARS AND COUNTING…

Even after 20+ years I still love it ! Lockdown was grim and I did have to close my business. When I returned I realised that the demand for this business remains high. Creating keepsakes remains very recession-proof. This is a great consideration for anyone who might be thinking of starting a new career. When I began childcare costs were a consideration. In 2024 childcare costs still are.
