Jo Butler’s journey from self-doubt to finding confidence through creativity
Why Creating Keepsakes Supports Your Wellbeing
Working with your hands has a way of slowing everything down. Creating something physical gives you the chance to focus on the moment and switch off from everyday pressures. There’s a special satisfaction in carefully removing a mould to reveal a detail that will be treasured for years.
Jo Butler came to train with me at the end of 2022. She had a Fine Art degree, but like many creative people, she’d lost confidence in her own ability. Through learning 3D casting, something started to change. She wasn’t just learning a new skill — she was rediscovering confidence in herself.
From Self-Doubt to Building Her Own Creative Business
Jo now runs Sentimental Castings, creating keepsakes for her own clients. She’s since expanded into botanical and coastal artwork, running her own workshops and sharing creativity with others.
Her journey shows you don’t need to see yourself as “an artist” before you begin. Sometimes confidence simply comes from giving yourself permission to try something new.
Could Creativity Be Your Next Step?
You might be drawn to 3D baby casting, family hand castings, 2D raised outprint tiles, belly bump impressions, or silver fingerprint jewellery. Private training is about building confidence as much as technique.
If Jo’s story speaks to you, get in touch for a friendly chat. No pressure, just a conversation about what you’d like to create.
